A Look Back at the 2024 School Year

It has been a busy year and we haven’t made many announcements about all that has been happening, so we put together a summary. Here are some of the highlights of the 2024 school year at Rainbow Bridges.

In 2025, we will have the 20th anniversary of Rainbow Bridges. We are very grateful for having the support of the community for so many years.

1: New Programs

Private Mentoring for Bilingual and Returnee Children

We began a unique program for international children, beginning with a family living in Fukuoka for one year. The brother and sister had enrolled in local junior high and elementary schools rather than an international school in order to have a fully immersive experience in Japanese culture and language.

Although they enjoyed school and other students were very kind, the challenges of being complete beginners in Japanese were immense.

Visit the forthcoming full article to learn how Rainbow Bridges students and teachers worked together to build the extensive after school program that is now available to all interested families.

Rainbow Club (After School Program)

New extended-time program for advanced English speakers in Fukuoka

This program was conceived during 2024 and will begin in April of 2025. The aim is to enable English speakers who attend school in Japanese rather than an international school to pursue true bilingual skills that will broaden their horizons later in life, facilitating their ability to attend English-language schools and universities of their choice and gain employment in positions requiring high English or multilingual skill sets.

Children able to speak only English with peers for 3-4 hours a day at a high level can participate in this program. Read more on our after school programs on our website.
