Our New Teacher

Ingrid comes from Norway, where she has experience teaching English and other subjects. She first visited Japan in 2024, finding a love for Japanese culture, architecture, and food—but leaving with a desire to deepen her sense of connection with Japan.

Ingrid and her partner later decided to spend a year abroad to broaden their professional and cultural experiences. They chose Fukuoka for its balance of city life and beautiful natural surroundings.

Finding Rainbow Bridges from Norway

In preparation this spring, Ingrid discovered our website. Although we weren’t hiring at the time, she reached out to us.

“Before I left Norway, I looked up every English school in Fukuoka that I could find. I was immediately drawn to Rainbow Bridges because of its child-centered approach and the wonderful pictures of children having fun while learning on the website.”

After arriving in Fukuoka this summer, she contacted us again, and we began discussing the possibility of working together.

“Once I got to Fukuoka, I had a meeting with Tristan (Biscut), and his enthusiasm for child-centered learning was contagious. I wanted to learn more and experience how this approach was put into practice in the classroom.”

We soon found that Ingrid is very curious about how children acquire language and her ideas about education closely align with the school’s. She has experience both learning and teaching English as a means of communication, and cares deeply about children.

During classroom visits, we saw how naturally she connects with children and responded to their interests and reactions. Her character, experience, and professional aims demonstrate a strong fit for Rainbow Bridges, and we are pleased to welcome her to the team.

Learning Together at Rainbow Bridges

“I am very interested in language learning for all ages, and Rainbow Bridges provides a new perspective that I find very useful, engaging, lasting—and fun!”

Ingrid is currently visiting classes across the school, getting to know the children and seeing how we put these principles into practice.

“I also love playing all sorts of games, which I think is an advantage because they are a great tool for learning.”

Notably, during her first visit, she introduced a game of her own where the children worked out how to play and picked up new English naturally as they played.

Ingrid’s involvement gives students opportunities to interact in English with another teacher and receive individual support—all while adding a little more fun and variety to the classes.

Looking Ahead: Teaching and Growing

While in Japan, Ingrid hopes to continue developing as a teacher and deepen her understanding of Japanese culture. When she returns to Norway, she hopes to carry forward the connections she builds and all she has learned here into her future career and personal life.

We’re glad to be part of Ingrid’s journey and look forward to learning from each other. You can find out more about Ingrid on her Teacher Profile page.
